Biden Admin Freaking Out After Iran’s Decision

( President Joe Biden is reportedly surprised and disappointed that the terrorism-supporting state of Iran ruled out informal meetings as a way of discussing plans to revive the failed 2015 nuclear deal. The Biden administration had pinned its hopes on Iran engaging in cordial discussions with other major Western nations, but the idea was rejected over the weekend.

“While we are disappointed at Iran’s response, we remain ready to reengage in meaningful diplomacy to achieve a mutual return to compliance with JCPOA commitments,” a spokesman for the White House said on Sunday.

“We will be consulting with our P5+1 partners on the best way forward,” the spokesperson added, referring to the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China, France, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Germany.

Last week, the European Union confirmed that they would be willing to attend informal discussions between Iran and the other signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that the United States must “first return to the nuclear agreement and lift its illegal sanctions on Iran” before discussions can take place.

“We will return to our commitments as soon as sanctions get lifted,” news agency ISNA quoted Khatibzadeh saying.

The nation’s government also reportedly said that they would not respond to “gestures” and won’t be intimidated by criticism from Europe and the United States. However, the Iranian government did commit to continuing to collaborate with France, Germany, the UK, China, and Russia.

Iran, however, has repeatedly broken the terms of the nuclear deal by enriching uranium to levels higher than agreed to in 2015, despite the agreement still being in force with France, Germany, China, Russia, and the UK.

Iranian leaders have repeatedly called on President Joe Biden to reverse the sanctions put in place by former President Donald Trump. The sanctions have crippled Iran as the nation’s leadership repeatedly broke the conditions of the agreement and engaged in aggressive military action and intimidation against U.S. forced.

Biden might be surprised that Iran said no, but is anybody surprised that Biden is surprised?
