(ConservativePeak.com)- New York Democrats went crazy on Thursday when an old quote from far-left California Representative Maxine Waters was edited and republished and mate to look as though she was criticizing controversial New York Mayor Governor Andrew Cuomo.
And we all know you’re not allowed to criticize Governor Cuomo!
The quote from Waters came from 2018 and was changed from her original words when she attacked President Donald Trump’s administration. It was the famous speech in which she encouraged her followers to harass, scare, and intimidate members of the Trump administration if they are seen in public.
In case you forgot about that, check the video out below, and then we’ll talk more about how trolls edited the quote and caused the uproar.
Not nice, is it?
A troll on Twitter took the quote, and changed it so it reads the following:
“If you see anybody from the Cuomo Administration in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them that they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
It was wrong when she said it about members of the Trump administration, and Democrats who freaked out about the edited quote showed it was wrong when it’s said about Cuomo and his team, too.
When Lis Smith, a former adviser to Pete Buttigieg, saw the comments on Twitter she blew up.
“Way way way over the line,” she said. “Especially in light of what happened at the Capitol on Jan 6.”

Where was she when Waters was saying those exact words about members of the Trump administration?
Kathy Hochul, the New York Lieutenant Gov., also said that Waters was encouraging violence against public officials.
“Plain & simple,” she said. “Absolutely disgusting. No tolerance for this,” she added.
This is encouraging violence against public officials – plain & simple. Absolutely disgusting. No tolerance for this.
Haven’t we learned the lessons from Washington D.C. just weeks ago? pic.twitter.com/3qOA5QcmnB

The disgust was also shared by NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Cuomo’s secretary Melissa DeRosa, and New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar.
The question is…did they realize that Maxine Waters didn’t really say this? And did they think this was a new comment made by the Cuomo Watch account?
It’s hard to tell, but it does reveal a double standard.
Encouraging violence towards the former president is apparently fine, but Governor Cuomo…not so much.
