(ConservativePeak.com)- On Tuesday, President Donald Trump shocked the nation when he officially pardoned Susan B. Anthony, the civil and women’s rights campaigner who illegally voted in the 1872 presidential election. The Susan B. Anthony Museum, however, publicly slammed the president and rejected the historic pardon.
And they say Trump is divisive?
President Donald Trump marked the 100th anniversary of women securing the right to vote in the United States by officially pardoning Anthony, who despite appearing on American currency and being a hero of the women’s rights movement, was never actually pardoned for her crime.
Deborah L. Hughes, the CEO of the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House, disgraced Anthony’s memory by rejected it on her behalf.
“Objection!” she said, “Mr. President, Susan B. Anthony must decline your offer of a pardon today…Anthony wrote in her diary in 1873 that her trial for voting was ‘The greatest outrage History ever witnesses.’ She was not allowed to speak as a witness in her own defense, because she was a woman.”
Well, yes. President Donald Trump acknowledged how terrible that was and pardoned her. But Hughes appeared to be more interested in political posturing than being gracious.
“At the conclusion of arguments, Judge Hunt dismissed the jury and pronounced her guilty. She was outraged to be denied a trial by jury. She proclaimed, ‘I shall never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty.’ To pay would have been to validate the proceedings.”
Can you believe the mental and linguistic gymnastics these people perform to make a dig at President Trump?
As America celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment—also known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment—President @realDonaldTrump will officially pardon its namesake.

During a press briefing and ceremony, President Trump told the media how ridiculous he thought it was that Anthony was never pardoned.
“She was never pardoned. Did you know that? She was never pardoned…What took so long?” he said.

Do you think this would have happened if President Barack Obama had pardoned Susan B. Anthony? Even if Hughes genuinely believes what she says now, do you think she would have made such an objection if a Democrat did it?
