(ConservativePeak.Com)- Remember when the Democrats were urging the President to use the huge amount of power granted to him under the Defense Production Act? Well, the narrative has changed. Now it’s not about Trump not using enough power, but using too much power.
I can’t keep up!
On Tuesday, MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough claimed the president is “yapping like an authoritarian wannabe” when he talks about reopening the United States economy. As if putting people back to work is a bad thing.
Scarborough’s comments came after a White House Coronavirus Task Force press briefing on Monday, in which the president said he was willing to use his authority as president to reopen the economy. Scarborough disagreed, however, and said the governors dealing with the worst-affected states would decide for themselves.
Mika Brzezinski, co-host of Morning Joe, said the press conference was effectively a “campaign rally” that he “masked as a coronavirus briefing.” Naturally, Scarborough agreed with her, and said the president had already handed over his responsibility for handling the pandemic over to the states. This, despite the fact that he assembled a Coronavirus Task Force on the very day that the World Health Organization declared the virus a global pandemic.
Scarborough then said the president doesn’t lead and accused him of having a meltdown.
“Yesterday, he completely melted down…Started yapping like an authoritarian wannabe.”
But, which is it? On the one side, the president has been told he didn’t use his powers enough, and then when he puts his foot down, they call him a dictator! Nancy Pelosi criticized the president at the end of March for not forcing more businesses to do more to help the pandemic, at a time when the president was encouraging businesses to manufacture equipment of their own free will instead.
The reality is that the president is criticized whenever he uses his power to do something the media class and the Democrats don’t like.
What they don’t like is that the president has expressed his willingness to use his authority to begin reopening the U.S. economy. The president has assembled a second Coronavirus Task Force that specifically looks at the American economy and safe ways of getting people back to work. On Monday, Trump signaled that he will open economies even if governors resists.
“When somebody is the President of the United States the authority is total, and that’s the way it’s going to be.”
