NO SHAME: Rashida Tlaib Wants BAILOUT After Failing Her District, Detroit

( – Representative Rashida Tlaib has absolutely no shame. After continuing to fail the struggling city of Detroit, in her district, Tlaib told the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, that he “has the authority” to bailout the city’s government.

She even wants a Federal Reserve bailout for Puerto Rico.

Tlaib made the comments during a House Financial Services Hearing, explaining, “My city filing for bankruptcy was devastating to so many retirees, sir. Forty, 50 years they worked for the city of Detroit, saw their pensions completely diminished, gone.”

Few would argue that this isn’t sad, but why do the Democrats always want to shift the blame to other people? This is the sad reality of Democrat-controlled cities.

Tlaib went on, saying, “Do you not believe that the governments of Detroit and Puerto Rico also play a vital role that should be preserved even if a financial crisis makes it hard for them to borrow money?”

Powell fought back, however, stating that it is not the job of the Federal Reserve to bailout American cities.

“The Fed has a particular role and particular authorities, and lending to state and local governments, and supporting them when they’re in bankruptcy is not part of our mandate,” he explained.

Tlaib wouldn’t have it though, who responded, “We’re going to strongly disagree. I do believe you do have the authority.”

Who would you believe, a congresswoman who can’t accept any blame for the results of her party’s terrible governance, or the man who is literally the Chairman of the Federal Reserve?

I think we all know who is right here.

Amazingly, it’s not the first instance of Tlaib trying to get a bailout for failed Democrat cities. Back in summer 2019, Tlaib urged Powell to step in. Back then, just like his most recent interaction with the congresswoman, he fought back.

So why is Tlaib trying to find a bailout for Detroit? It all stems back to when the city filed for bankruptcy in 2013, following terrible decisions made by Democratic lawmakers and unfortunate effects of the economic crash. To this day, the Democrats have been unable to fix the mess they created.

Later, in 2017, Puerto Rico followed Detroit and filed for bankruptcy as a result of its $70 billion of debt. For reference, Detroit was forced into bankruptcy with just $18 billion of debt.

Where does Tlaib think the money will come from? And, even if she got the money, can she demonstrate how finances will be managed better this time round?
