(ConservativePeak.com)- An angry mob of protestors harassed Kentucky Senator Rand Paul as he left the White House Thursday night. Paul was there for President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech during the Republican National Convention.
The protestors crowded around Paul and his wife as they left the White House, shouting “No justice, no peace,” “Breonna Taylor” and “Say her name” as they tried to walk down the street.
Police blocked off the protestors from getting to Paul and his wife as they headed back to their hotel. One protestor shoved a police officer, and Paul tried to steady the officer afterwards, a video showed.
On Friday morning, Paul told Fox & Friends:
“They were shouting threats to us, to kill us, to hurt us, but also threats saying shout, shouting ‘say her name,’ Breonna Taylor, and it’s like you couldn’t reason with this mob, but I’m actually the author of the Breonna Taylor law to end no-knock raids. So the irony is lost on these idiots that they’re trying to kill the person who’s actually trying to get rid of no-knock raids.”
Paul said the demonstrators were yelling: “We’re not going to let you go alive unless you’ll say you’re for criminal justice reform.” Again, the irony is that Paul says he’s authored 22 different criminal justice reforms with both former President Barack Obama and Trump.
On Thursday night, he tweeted that he was “attacked by an angry mob of over 100, one block away from the White House,” thanking local police for “literally saving our lives from a crazed mob.”
Paul said he thinks he and his wife could have been seriously injured or killed had the police not stepped in and helped. In 2017, Paul had to have part of his lung removed after he was attacked by one of his neighbors.
He said of the police action Thursday night:
“I truly believe this with every fiber of my being, had they gotten at us they would have gotten us to the ground. We might not have been killed, might just have been injured by being kicked in the head, or kicked in the stomach until we were senseless.”
Luckily, Paul and his wife were not harmed at all during the incident. Still, he called on the FBI to arrest angry mobsters as well as investigate “interstate criminal traffic being paid for across state lines.”
“I believe there are going to be people who are involved with the attack on us that actually were paid to come here, are not from Washington, D.C., and are sort of paid to be anarchists. This is disturbing because really, if you’re inciting a riot that’s a crime, but if you’re paying someone to incite a riot, that person needs to go to jail as well.
“They were inciting a riot, and they would have killed us had the police not been here.”
Other people who attended Trump’s nomination acceptance speech were also the target of the angry mobsters outside the White House Thursday night.
