(ConservativePeak)- NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw, who was once considered the most popular broadcaster on American television, is retiring after 55 years in the business. It’s huge news for America, as Brokaw oversaw a period in the news media that was substantially more fair and willing to criticize and scrutinize politicians on both sides of the aisle.
At age 80, Brokaw resigning is an indication that the media of old is long gone.
Brokaw says that he won’t be disappearing, however, as he will continue writing op-eds and articles, and more books. He previously published the book “The Greatest Generation,” which details the stories of those who fought the Second World War.
Once Brokaw became the sole anchor at NBC Nightly News, he remained in that position for some 21 years. It’s what ultimately made him the most trusted news anchor in the business.
A sad day as Tom Brokaw announces his retirement from NBC after 55 years.

Even if he did work for NBC!
Writing in an essay that appeared on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC in December, Brokaw hinted that he would soon be retiring, as he reflected on his many decades of reporting.
“For me, it’s been an amazing journey – 57 years as a reporter,” he wrote.
So perhaps this isn’t all that much of a surprise.
Over the years, Brokaw has endured several health problems that have affected his ability to work. In 2013, he was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer called multiple myeloma.
But in a move that is likely to change the way much of America sees him, Brokaw attacked President Donald Trump in his final essay, calling his refusal to accept the results of the election “bizarre.”
Despite decades of reporting, Brokaw didn’t seem capable of analyzing the overwhelming evidence of fraud and misconduct that occurred in battleground states across the nation. In the piece, Brokaw said of Trump, “before too long, his principal audience will be his caddies.”
Well, with President Trump already plotting a comeback, we’ll see how that turns out.
Regardless of political opinions, America sends off a news reading legend and wishes him all the best for his retirement!
