Trump Slams Dr. Birx And Fauci

( The early days of the coronavirus pandemic were pivotal in how everything has progressed since then.

Many people have accused former President Donald Trump of botching the process. On Tuesday, Trump said Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci are the ones to blame.

Maria Bartiromo had the former president on her “Fox News Primetime” broadcast on Tuesday to discuss how the Trump administration handled the pandemic at the beginning — roughly one year ago.

Calling in via phone, Trump said Birx and Fauci “made nothing but mistakes” with the advice that they gave him while he was trying to lead the country through what became a catastrophe.

Bartiromo spoke of the March 11 primetime address that was given by Joe Biden. During the address, he said the coronavirus “was met with silence for days, and weeks, and then months.”

The Fox News host pointed out that Biden decided to conveniently leave out one of the Trump administration’s greatest accomplishments — Operation Warp Speed, which resulted in multiple companies creating COVID-19 vaccinations in record times. Through that program, the government partnered with various private pharmaceutical companies to make and then distribute the coronavirus vaccine.

Bartiromo asked Trump how he felt about “not getting any credit” from the current Biden administration. He responded:

“So, when you go to the COVID issue, we did a great job. We get very little credit for it. I closed the country far earlier. Dr. Fauci and Birx and all of these people that, frankly, made nothing but mistakes, they didn’t want to do it. They didn’t want to close it to China.

“I closed the border to China. I closed the border to Europe, Italy, and all these countries that were having tremendous problems long before they wanted me to do it. If you look at Biden, he didn’t want to do it months afterwards, and then ultimately, he admitted that he made a mistake in saying that.

“If I didn’t do that, we would have had hundreds of thousands of more lives gone.”

On January 31, 2020, the Trump administration announced they were putting travel restrictions in place for China. Reports are that Fauci was opposed to that decision. In March of last year, Birx defended Trump, saying he was doing a good job.

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, she said of then-President Trump:

“He’s been so attentive to the scientific literature and the details and the data. I think his ability to analyze and integrate data that comes out of his long history in business has really been a real benefit during these discussions about medical issues.”

Trump has received a lot of criticism for how he handled the pandemic in the early days. Many people zero in on how he said the virus would “go away” in not much time, and how he downplayed the seriousness of the pandemic at the onset.

In December, Birx announced her retirement from serving in the White House. Fauci is employed as Biden’s chief medical advisor.
