(ConservativePeak.com)- United Nations chief Antonio Guterres issued a disturbing warning to the world on Saturday, telling all world leaders that they should declare a “state of climate emergency”…or else.
During the opening speech of the Climate Ambition summit, which was held digitally because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Guterres warned that countries weren’t doing enough to satisfy the globalist organization.
The U.N. chief, a well-known socialist, said that if countries don’t change course, the world “may be headed for a catastrophic temperature rise of more than 3.0 degrees this century.”
May? Or will?
Surely a global catastrophe of this seriousness should be discussed in terms of facts and not generalities, right?
Roughly 70 heads of government and state from around the world took part in the summit which was organized by France, the United Nations, and the United Kingdom.
Keen political enthusiasts may be aware that the United Kingdom’s “conservative” prime minister, Boris Johnson, is a supporter of the world’s green efforts and recently proposed sweeping new climate change policies that would ban the sale of diesel-powered cars a full ten years earlier than originally planned.
The world’s leaders used the summit to outline their new plans and commitments to reducing carbon emissions, but very little was offered in the way of details.
Which is…entirely what you’d expect from a meeting like this.
Socialist Guterres even complained that G20 nations were spending more money in their COVID-19 rescue packages on sectors linked to fossil fuels than green energy.
“This is unacceptable,” he said. “We cannot use these resources to lock in policies that burden future generations with a mountain of debt on a broken planet,” he said.
Guterres did not, however, say that he would not support spending these unprecedented sums on sectors related to green energy. The entire summit was centered on telling nations to spend huge sums of money – which would put a burden of debt on future generations – on green energy technology that cannot yet properly meet the world’s energy needs.
Among his most radical proposals was demanding that every country, city, company, and financial institution should put in place plans to reach net zero emissions by 2050. He said they should “start executing them now, including by providing clear short-term targets.”
In 39 days the Biden-Harris administration will rejoin the Paris Agreement and once again be global leaders in the fight against the climate crisis.

Guterres will no doubt be pleased to learn that under President Joe Biden – should he be inaugurated in January – the United States will re-join the costly Paris Climate Agreement that costs American jobs.
