White House Planning to Block H-1B Visa Workers for Fortune 500 Companies

(ConservativePeak.Com)- When President Donald Trump signed an executive order temporarily banning immigration into the United States, he was met with criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike. Democrats said the order went too far, while many Republicans argued that it should have included H-1B visas.

Now, according to the Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump is planning to stop companies hiring foreign workers, including H-1B graduates.

According to a report by the left-wing outlet, the president’s immigration advisers are “drawing up plans for a coming executive order, expected this month, that would ban the issuance of some new temporary, work-based visas.”

The order will reportedly focus on people entering the United States on H-1B visas which are given to “highly skilled workers” as well as seasonal migrant workers who enter on H-2B visas. Student visas may also be targeted, in the sweeping new executive order designed to make it easier for Americans to get back to work once the economy reopens.

The full scope of the executive order is still to be confirmed, but it is expected to range from suspensions of entire visa categories or even the creation of new incentives designed to hire Americans over foreign workers.

A senior official from the Department of Homeland Security said that the new measures vindicate the president’s claims about immigration from the start.

“If we are taking actions on immigration that help improve public health, help improve the economy, help improve jobs, it’s a vindication or validation that the president was right since day one,” the official said.

The report follows several Republican lawmakers pushing to the president to reduce the scale of worker programs. A letter signed by Senators Josh Hawley. Tom Cotton, Chuck Grassley, and Ted Cruz, as well as Representatives Matt Gaetz, Mo Brooks, Lance Gooden, and Paul Gosar, said that suspension should include H-2B and H-1B visas as a “minimum.”

“We also urge you to suspend the EB-5 immigrant visa programme, effective immediately,” the letter also said.

Todd Schulte, the president of FWD.us which was set up by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, argued that the position was “extreme” because a minority of Senators and House members supported it.

A vast majority of Americans, according to polls, believe in cutting immigration entirely and reducing numbers after the pandemic.

Isn’t it more extreme to go against the will of the people?
